Have you ever wondered what it’s like to sell up your house and ride off half way around the world? Well that’s exactly what this homesick pommie couple did. They set off on their trusty bikes from Wollongong and headed for the UK to have a nice cup of tea with their mums.
In 5 months they covered about 21,000 km across 20 countries. Firstly they crossed the emptiness of the great Aussie outback and then negotiated the manic traffic of Bangkok, Kathmandu and Delhi. Next came the fabled and dangerous Karakoram Highway through the mountains of Pakistan, up and over the 4600 metre Khunjerab pass and into China. More rough roads through Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan led them to Russia, through Ukraine and then the final 5,000 km push through Europe.
It’s a really easy, fun book to read and is a bit of an inspiration, just going to show that normal people can do this kind of an adventure without doing loads of planning or having a back up 4x4! They’ve even been so kind as to give an A-Z of useful tips on how to do a trip like it.
Be warned though, reading it may get you inspired to get on your bike and before you know it you’ll be on an adventure of your very own.

Great book written in a no BS format.......could have used more details within the book for example we're did they recharge their electronics etc.Other than the authors distain for Ewan and Charley of Long Way Round ( get over it.....these guys still rode a good ride!) I found Will to be a pretty grounded "real" guy that I could believe.
Whether you ride or are an armchair rider you will enjoy this book!
I hope he writes another some time.....

Will and Kate have"been there -done that" in terms of overland motorcycling.
Having done a few such rides, I can vouch for their practical no nonsense advice, while having fun, remaining secure, and watching the costs.
Highly reccomended.
I read this in less than 2 days, as the story flowed so easily. Just the right balance on the level of detail with enough to understand how things were done, but not too much that it became boring.
Just goes to show what can be done when you ditch the excuses not to! Will and Kate's epic trip of a lifetime should inspire more to saddle up and get out there. There's a lot of concession to expressive writing but this book is all about documenting the journey and depicts the events as they transpired sufficiently to convey the vibe and environment. Lots of extra info to help with planning your first/next motorcycle adventure...
Real adventure story. Ever wonder what it would be like to actually ride around the world. Go to places that few western riders ever venture? The author does and really provides a lively narrative. Worth reading.
This is a well crafted story (real) about a couple’s journey on regular bikes through highly irregular areas. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This couple was well prepared and kept a very positive attitude. Their trip was enjoyable to read about. I wish they had slowed down and spent more time in Eastern Europe.
I really enjoyed Will's writing style and storytelling. I felt like I was with them on the adventure. Only complaint was it was a short read and the adventure was over before I knew it. Maybe because I couldn't put it down.
